LaCurtis Mayes is a 2006 right handed pitcher/outfielder from Riverside, California with a strong athletic build at 6'0", 185 pounds. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a slight drop and drive style. He showed very good arm strength with quick arm action. His fastball shows good life at 87 mph. He has good spin and depth to his 67 mph curveball. He has a good feel for his change with nice sinking action at 68 mph. He has good command of all 3 pitches and he mixes speeds well. Mayes hits from a balanced stance with a leg lift trigger, and he keeps his hands tight to his body. He is very aggressive to contact and swings the bat hard. He showed good bat control and hit hard line drives to all fields. He showed excellent arm strength from the outfield at 89 mph with good carry. He is a solid all around player and a possible 2-way guy at the high college level.
