Matt Gonzalez is a 2012 SS/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Acworth, GA who attends Harrison HS. Lean athletic build with some present strength. 6.77 runner, quick first step with very good defensive range, outstanding raw arm strength, release is a bit long, moves through the ball well, soft hands, solid overall actions. High hand wrapped hitting approach, quick strong hands get the barrel to the ball, good bat speed, squares the ball up, line drive contact, will hit it hard to all fields, good idea how to hit. Also pitched, upper 80's fastball, side step delivery with deep stab in back, pitches hunched over, over the top release, mechanics don't work at present. Aggressive hustling attitude on the field. Good student, verbal commitment to Georgia Tech.
