Mikey Romero, SS, Orange Lutheran HS (Calif.)

Romero, a PG All-American and the top-ranked shortstop in the state, didn’t disappoint against Trinity League rival Servite in their recent matchup.  He continued to show exceptional bat-to-ball skills, lacing two triples to the pull-side gap.  Defensively he showed range deep in to the 5-6 hole on multiple occasions.  The body continues to add strength throughout the frame.  Committed to LSU.

Oliver Santos, LHP, Orange Lutheran HS (Calif.)

The top-ranked lefty in the state matched up against a talented Servite lineup and held them in check over 5 frames of work.  Santos ran the fastball up to 91, sitting 88-90 throughout the outing and showed very good feel of his 77-80 mph slider, pouring it over for strikes, going to the back door and running it to the glove-side corner.  Mixed in a 77/78 mph changeup, doubling up on occasion with the pitch.  Flashed a 69/70 mph curveball at times, slowed up a bit on the offering and had less feel for the pitch than the slider.  There were multiple reports that the fastball sat a few ticks firmer the previous week.  Physical 6-foot-4 frame projects well, and the Duke commit continues to impress.
