15u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1

Getting the start for 5 Star National Northeast in one of the early games over at The Chop was right-hander Tegan Kuhns (2024, Gettysburg, Pa.) who was remarkably impressive over his four innings on the hill. The right-hander has a loose, projectable build along with an athletic delivery, an innate feel to spin, and a fastball that peaked at 89 mph. At 6-foot-2, 155 pounds there’s a ton of room for projection and the fluidity of the delivery portends future velocity gains. The fastball sat mostly in the upper-80s, sitting right around 86-87 mph for the most part of the outing and he would use the fastball almost like a secondary pitch as the breaking ball was his bread and butter. The breaker showed sharp downward bite in the 73-77 mph range and he could add and subtract from it effectively. The pitch was really spinning in there with spin rates up to 2800 on the pitch and he had the feel to both land it and induce chases with the offering. Kuhns’ feel to spin coupled with the present velocity and athleticism make for a very sound prospect and the North Carolina State commit has a ton to like at a young age.

The Ohio Warhawks prevailed with a 1-0 victory and both Erik Parker (2024, Suwannee, Ga.) and Quindon Wright (2024, Albany, Ga.) showed things to like out of prospects who both just turned 15.
