Weekend Preview | Video Vault | Freshmen dominate to open 2016

No. 12 California 5, Southern California 4

Expectations for Daulton Jefferies were very high entering the 2016 season and he hasn’t missed a beat. He delivered seven strong innings, striking out 10 USC batters, and only one of the four runs he allowed were earned. With the win Jefferies moved to 5-0 in as many starts, while Keaton Siomkin and Erik Martinez each provided a scoreless inning in relief, with Martinez recording his fifth save of the year.

Jefferies listed 6-foot, 180-pound stature seems to be fairly complimentary as he is a smaller righty, however one with electric stuff. His body type (and even facially) resembles Sonny Gray, although instead of a curveball Jefferies throws a slider.
