ZT Select Takes 14u WWBA West Title

After a week of competitive baseball, the ZT Select Prospects have been crowned the 14U WWBA National Champions, completing an impressive tournament run with a championship victory over Swarm Red Elite National 2030 with a final score of 3-1.

The 14U division brought together 19 talented teams for a week of high-level competition, with players from California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania battling for the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in youth baseball.

Throughout the tournament, ZT Select Prospects showed consistency, resilience, and the ability to compete in close games.

From the opening rounds of pool play to the championship matchup, the team continued to find ways to win behind strong pitching, timely hitting, and a complete team effort. In the championship game, ZT Select Prospects was led by standout performances from Jeremy Jimenez, who led the way for the ZT Select offense, going 2-2 with 1 run scored, and Issac Regalado, who went 1-3 in the game. Regalado hit .500 through 5 games. On the mound, Hector Nicolas Trinidad delivered a strong outing, pitching a full 7 innings, helping the team control the pace of the game and keep the opposing offense in check.

“This game we played good, pitched good. My man Puma shoved seven innings, got us out there,” said MVP Jordan Valverde.

“I put in a lot of work off camera, and to have people posting it on camera means a lot to me,” said MVP Pitcher Jacob Garibay.

A pivotal moment came in the 3rd inning after Swarm Red Elite put the first run on the board as ZT Select was quick to answer back with 3 runs across the next 3 innings. Those two small runs helped ZT Select secure the victory and finish their tournament run as champions.

For the players, the championship was the result of preparation, teamwork, and the ability to trust one another throughout a demanding week of competition. Each game presented a new challenge, but ZT Select continued to rise to the occasion and perform in key moments. “We have good chemistry, good everything, mixed team,” said Valverde.

The 14U WWBA National Championship showcased some of the top young talent in the country, allowing players to compete against elite competition while gaining valuable experience in a championship environment.

For ZT Select, the title represents the culmination of a successful week and a reminder of what can happen when a team plays together. After battling through 19 teams and several tough matchups, they leave the tournament as WWBA National Champions.

As the summer season continues, these young players will look to build on their championship experience and continue developing as they take the next steps in their baseball careers.

Hortenbury was probably one of my personal favorites, as this was my first time seeing it in action. It’s an athletic two-way profile that has a chance to do both at the next level. But what stood out to me, was his potential on the mound. The left-handed pitcher moves very well and is comfortable there. Has the mound presence Supplemented with a free-flowing and loose arm from a higher ¾ slot, he pounded the zone in his lone appearance. He went...

Following a dominant week at the 17u PG East World Series, No. 34 ranked 643 DP Cougars 17u capped off an impressive tournament run by defeating No. 2 ranked East Cobb Astros 17u, 3-2, in the championship game to claim the title. The Cougars earned the tournament's No. 1 overall seed after outscoring opponents by an absurd 59-6 throughout the week before completing their championship run with a hard-fought victory in the finale. “Always feels great to finish the year playing your best ball, especially when going up against strong competition,” 643 Head Coach Danny Pralgo said. “We did so many of the little things right: on the mound with location, clean on defense, bunting, 2 strike approach leading to long at bats, getting hit-by-pitches, and we had so many good outs offensively that led to moving a runner or scoring a runner. And when those things all come together in...

A tightly contested battle between Canes Florida 2029 and Florida Flames 16u capped the 16U Florida Elite Championship, with the Canes earning a 6-5 walk-off win on Monday at JetBlue Park Stadium. “It means a lot to this team specifically because this is their first win as a group,” Canes head coach Alec Bettinger said. “We’ve come up short a couple times, so seeing one go through the hoop here is really nice for the boys.” The Canes defense came out hot, led by Cannon Tyler who started on the mound for the Canes. Tyler set the tone from the start, opening the game with a strikeout. He allowed no hits while striking out three over five innings. His fastball sat 77-82 mph.
