2026 PG National Showcase Preview

With the start of July comes the start of the 2026 PG National Showcase. Running for five days, the best of the Class of 2027 will come together in Miami’s LoanDepot Park to update their metrics and show their progress in game situations against top-tier talent.

45 out of the top-50 players in the class of 2027 will be in attendance - including all top-5 players, Dylan Seward, Chase Fuller, Kinon Bastian, Connor Salerno and Carter Hadnot

Vice president of scouting operations at Perfect Game, Jered Goodwin, said the fact that so many of the top-ranked guys have prioritized this event is telling.

"When you talk about 45 out of 50, you see how many kids across the country want to go in and compete to see where they stand and what they need to improve on," Goodwin explained. "When you have those types of numbers of kids coming in and wanting to compete at the same place and same time, it says a lot about the guys that want to go do it."

Seward, traveling across the country from his hometown of Eastvale, California, consistently shows the star power deserving of his number-one ranking. He hit multiple home runs in both the UBC East and the 17U WWBA while displaying strength and fluidity on defense. PG scouts describe Seward as a true shortstop, speedy with offensive potential and possessing all the tools.

Coming from Tallahassee, Florida, Fuller’s metrics have consistently been off the charts year by year as he gets older and stronger. Scouts have said he “always hit at PG events with power and contact.” Fuller has also shown off his stuff on the mound with his fastball consistently reaching the mid-90s.

Bastian was the top performer at the 2026 UBC East with 2 home runs, 10 runners batted in, 6 hits, 7 runs and 3 stolen bases. He’s also coming off a strong showing at the 17U WWBA. From Winter Garden, Florida, scouts say he has a “very interesting combination of speed and strength.”

Left-handed pitcher Salerno from Indian Trail, North Carolina has impressed scouts with his 96-mph fastball. In 2025, he had 41 strikeouts in 23 innings and only allowed 11 hits. Now 6’4 and 225 lbs, he’s sure to have a big showcase.

Rounding out the top 5, Hadnot is also arriving in Miami off great performances at both the UBC East and the 17U WWBA. Qualities like his quick feet, soft hands, strong arm and ability as a switch-hitter have caught the attention of PG scouts. They say the California native is a “primary shortstop on defense” with “pure middle of the infield defensive actions, moves fluidly and smoothly through the ball.”

To see the growth of the top players in the 2027 class, both on the field and in the numbers, is a big part of what makes the National Showcase special. Goodwin said he looks forward to this year's event specifically.

"This is a really fun year with dynamic, middle-of-the-field prospects that are in this class. We've seen some guys really step up during the tournament season that are performers and have tools and still have future projection. Getting everybody on the same field at the same time is always the most fun thing that any evaluator can do...There have been some players that have stepped up during the tournament season and it's going to be fun to see them in a big league stadium on a national stage."

Flores posted a 2.78 ERA over 32.1 innings as a freshman before a limited sophomore campaign in which he logged just 12 innings. The stuff was on full display this summer, highlighted by a dominant five-inning, nine-strikeout playoff performance in which he touched 98 mph five different times. Following a dominant week at the 17u PG East World Series, No. 34 ranked 643 DP Cougars 17u capped off an impressive tournament run by defeating No. 2 ranked East Cobb Astros 17u, 3-2, in the championship game to claim the title. The Cougars earned the tournament's No. 1 overall seed after outscoring opponents by an absurd 59-6 throughout the week before completing their championship run with a hard-fought victory in the finale. “Always feels great to finish the year playing your best ball, especially when going up against strong competition,” 643 Head Coach Danny Pralgo said. “We did so many of the little things right: on the mound with location, clean on defense, bunting, 2 strike approach leading to long at bats, getting hit-by-pitches, and we had so many good outs offensively that led to moving a runner or scoring a runner. And when those things all come together in...

Hortenbury was probably one of my personal favorites, as this was my first time seeing it in action. It’s an athletic two-way profile that has a chance to do both at the next level. But what stood out to me, was his potential on the mound. The left-handed pitcher moves very well and is comfortable there. Has the mound presence Supplemented with a free-flowing and loose arm from a higher ¾ slot, he pounded the zone in his lone appearance. He went...

A tightly contested battle between Canes Florida 2029 and Florida Flames 16u capped the 16U Florida Elite Championship, with the Canes earning a 6-5 walk-off win on Monday at JetBlue Park Stadium. “It means a lot to this team specifically because this is their first win as a group,” Canes head coach Alec Bettinger said. “We’ve come up short a couple times, so seeing one go through the hoop here is really nice for the boys.” The Canes defense came out hot, led by Cannon Tyler who started on the mound for the Canes. Tyler set the tone from the start, opening the game with a strikeout. He allowed no hits while striking out three over five innings. His fastball sat 77-82 mph. Another strikeout and a pickoff at second base ended the inning. Race McDaniel started on the mound for the Flames. The left-hander pitched six innings, striking out seven batters. The...
