Team Elite Takes Another PG Elite

After capturing last year’s championship, Team Elite Scout 14U returned to Hoover looking to prove their success was no fluke. Four days later, they accomplished exactly that.

Behind strong pitching, timely hitting, and the confidence that has defined the team throughout the tournament, Team Elite Scout 14U defeated SBA Bolts National 14U to claim the 2026 PG 14U National Elite Championship and secure back-to-back titles.



“It’s awesome,” Team Elite Coach Blankenship said. “This is our first event of the year, so it’s good to get it to start with them, and they won it last year, so I know they are excited to do that back-to-back, so it’s pretty awesome.”

The championship game showcased many of the same qualities that carried Team Elite through the tournament. Ryan Johnson delivered 4.1 scoreless innings on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out two. Chester Sabin followed in relief to help secure the victory and bring home the championship.

Offensively, Team Elite continued to find production through the lineup. Tipton Roop paced the attack with a 2-3 performance that included a triple and two runs scored. Andrew Owen added a double, while Mark Hamlin chipped in a hit of his own. Grady Seay and Kerrington Taylor each drove in two runs, while Chris Reed and Brooks Minarik also contributed RBI.

For Blankenship, the championship run reflected a team that never stops believing.

“They’re just hard to kill,” Blankenship said. “They just have that belief that we’re going to get it done every single game, so it doesn’t matter the score or what’s going on, they just find a way to get it done. It’s just confidence.”

Coach Sylvester pointed to the team’s attention to detail and chemistry as the foundation for its success.

“It’s taking care of the little things,” Sylvester said. “Little things make big things happen, and this group is so tight knit, and they depend on each other.”

That chemistry has become one of the defining characteristics of Team Elite’s championship culture.

Outfielder Grady Seay said the bond within the team has only continued to grow.

“It means a lot because we won it last year,” Seay said. “It’s a great group of guys. We had two new guys this year, so the chemistry has been great. We really just play well together, and as a team we play really good baseball.”

Seay believes that chemistry is one of the biggest reasons for the team’s continued success.

“I think my team really supports me and helps me,” Seay said. “I think we are a great group of guys, and I think when we all play together, we are one of the best teams in the country.”

When the final out was recorded, Seay’s first thought wasn’t about individual accomplishments or statistics.

“I was just happy to be here, happy to play baseball on this day because of the rain delays,” Seay said. “I am happy we got to finish the game. I just wanted to celebrate with my team.”

That team-first mindset was echoed by standout shortstop Chris Reed, who believes the championship validates what this group already knew about themselves.

“It shows that we belong, and that we can win it multiple times and that we are a great team and can hang with the best,” Reed said.

Reed credited the team’s trust in one another for helping them stay composed throughout the pressure of championship play.

“Just trusting the guys,” Reed said. “You know they are there for you and they will always have your back.”

That trust has been built over years of playing together, something Reed believes separates Team Elite from many of its opponents.

“We have played with each other for so long now, so we have great chemistry where we just know that we can get the job done,” he said.

The victory not only delivered another championship trophy but also reinforced Team Elite’s standing as one of the top teams in the country. With elite talent throughout the roster and a championship reputation that continues to grow, the team once again proved why it remains one of the premier teams in the 14U age division.

As the players celebrated another title together, the accomplishment represented more than a single tournament victory. It was a result of trust, chemistry, and a belief that no moment is too big.

For Team Elite Scout 14U, that formula has now produced back-to-back championships.

Ty Teske (2027, Merrill, WI) worked a complete-game seven-inning shutout while striking out 12 and never allowed the game to speed up on him. The fastball sat 79-81 and touched 83, consistently working to both sides of the plate and getting him into favorable counts. Repeats the delivery exceptionally well and maintained command throughout all seven innings.
