What Happened: Sam Houston took the first two games in the Karbach Round Rock Classic over Iowa and Kansas State, before falling to LSU in the final game.



Carrying Tool: Offensive depth. The Bearkats picked amassed a total of 39 hits over the three games of the tournament. They didn’t have a hole in the entire lineup as the top and middle performed as did Joe Redfield and Myles Jefferson, who went 14-23 (.609 AVG) in the eight and nine spots in the order.

Concerns: Depth of arms. Pitchability right-hander Coltin Atkinson and finesse southpaw Steven Beard were dominant in the first two games, but they will need more depth as well as high octane stuff to face off against elite lineups.

Best Player on the Field: Walker Janek. The athletic catcher hit all weekend long, collecting barrel after barrel while not striking out once. Janek is coming off a strong freshman campaign and he looks to be primed for a huge 2023.
