The Texas Tech Red Raiders are headed into the 10th season under Head Coach Tim Tadlock and are looking to continue a historic run for the Red Raiders program. They have turned in a combined 78 wins over the last two seasons en route to a Super Regional appearance in 2021 and a Regional appearance in 2022. They look to continue their winning ways as they have key pieces coming to campus in their 2023 recruiting class.

They have continued their ability to lock up incredible in-state talent with over half of their commits coming from the Lone Star state. This group is led by PG All-American middle infielder TJ Pompey. Pompey has elite defensive ability at shortstop with huge power projection in the lean 6-foot-4 frame. Playing right next to him is the top-ranked third baseman in Texas, Garet Boehm. He’s a strong, 6-foot-3, 215-pound corner infielder with excellent barrel skills. They have also found their backstop of the future in Davis Rivers, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound backstop with big juice in the left-handed swing. Texas Tech has also gotten three top-400 pitchers in left-hander Gavyn Jones and right-handers Cole Kaase and Carson Priebe.

The Red Raiders have always done a great job of going into Georgia and taking some of the biggest names, such as Michael Harris II in 2019 and Gage Harrelson in 2022. The 2023 class is no different as they have landed the top right-hander in Georgia, Jeffrey “Mac” Heuer and left-handed hitter Landon Stripling. Heuer is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound power arm that has already gotten the fastball up to 96 mph with regularity. Stripling has one of the purest left-handed swings in the class and has been as consistent of a performer in PG events as we have seen.

The heralded program has also dipped into California, the Northeast, and Canada to round out their class. This group is comprised of top-100 player and top player from Ontario, Myles Naylor, middle infielder Will Burns from California, and Chandler Coe, a right-handed pitcher from Connecticut. Naylor is a middle-of-the-order impact bat with power to all fields. Burns, a star on the gridiron as well, is a plus runner with big bat speed, and Coe, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound right-hander, is another power arm that has gotten up to 95 mph.

As of today, the Red Raiders have 19 commits in their 2023 class with a good balance of impact bats and arms that can contribute early in their college careers. All of their commits are ranked in the top-500 in the PG database, showing they are well on their way of continuing their success on Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
