Colin Houck (2023, Lilburn, Ga.) is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound tall, lean, and athletically-built primary shortstop and right-handed pitcher from Parkview High School in his hometown. Suiting up for TG DBacks 18u Scout Mags this weekend in Marietta, Houck played a pivotal role in the team’s semifinal run, as he led all 18u/Upperclass position players in hitting at tournament-end. This past weekend, Houck hit a ridiculous .800 over three games with eight total bases, including a home run deep over the wall to the pull side to get the scoring started for the DBacks during their pool play rout Saturday night. At the plate, Houck displays rhythm and timing in the swing, which he starts from a square stance and hands low outside his chest. He consistently maintains a direct bat path with quick, strong hands, and hand-eye coordination that leads to hard contact to all fields, letting pitch location dictate what he does at the plate. An advanced athlete, Houck’s athleticism holds true in all phases as he covers a lot of ground at short and can affect the game with his speed on the bases.
