Sophomore World Kicking Off In Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The sixth annual WWBA Sophomore World Championship will host 114 of the top 16u travel ball teams across the country from Sept. 22-26 in Fort Myers, Fla., kicking off a run of World Championship events this fall.

Twenty-two states will be represented at the Sophomore World Championship, which will also host teams from Puerto Rico and Ontario. The stars of the 2025 class will be out in Fort Myers, as 29 of the top-100 prospects in that class set to play, with hundreds more top-500 talents suiting up for the premier 16u event on the fall calendar.



Picking out a favorite on paper is a fool’s errand, with the talent on the rosters spread out in a way that will make for a lot of fun throughout the week. Samuel Cozart (No. 9 overall 2025 prospect, RHP), John Lash (No. 19, LHP), and Tyler Baird (No. 66, RHP) are suiting up for the South Charlotte Panthers. Omar Serna (No. 10, C), Eli Pitts (No. 31, SS), Jax Bishop (No. 41, RHP), Domaine Vann (No. 52, OF), and Nicolas Partridge (No. 80, 3B) will play for Wow Factor National. BPA has a pair of highly-ranked prospects in Seth Hernandez (No. 13, RHP) and Billy Carlson (No. 14, SS). Canes 16u Scout Team will be loaded, with Coy James (No. 21, SS), Everett Johnson (No. 27, OF), Zion Theophilus (No. 33, RHP), Boston Kellner (No. 38, SS), and Eddie Zaun (No. 69, SS).

Pool play will run from Thursday through the 1:15 pm slot on Saturday, with Round 1 of the playoffs kicking off at 3:30 pm that same day. The final three games of the WWBA Sophomore World Championship will be played on Monday, Sept. 26, the two semifinal games being played concurrently at 8:00 am, with the championship game to follow at 10:15 am in the stadium at JetBlue Park.
