Sebastian Wilson (2027, Chicago, Ill.) finished off his 13u World Series with a ridiculous .545/.688/1.415 line. The left-handed hitting outfielder has some height for his age at 5-foot-11, but his length doesn’t get in the way of his swing path. Wilson has a short and compact stroke with a minimal hand load as he drifts into contact. There is some fluidity and rhythm in the hands pre-pitch, and his leg kick is small and quiet. Wilson hits off his front foot often with his backside leaving the ground when he makes contact. One would assume that you can’t generate much power from this style of hitting but that’s not the case here. Wilson has big time bat speed and rotates well and explosively with his lower half giving him tons of juice despite the short swing. The rotational athleticism and bat-to-ball skills he possesses are a rare combination, especially at his young age.
