16u WWBA Scout Notes: Day 1

Aj Ciscar (2024, Weston, Fla.) was as good as I’ve ever seen him here on Day 2 as he went a little over four innings and punched out 10 with stuff that has trended up. He’s always been a projectable arm that I’ve been a fan of and it has started to really click as the arm speed has jumped and in turn so has the velocity. He worked in the upper-80s for the entirety of the look and it’s impressive how well he can get to either side of the plate with comfort. It’s a full four-pitch mix which gives him three strong secondaries in slider, curveball and changeup. The slider and the changeup serve as real swing-and-miss pitches now with the slider being short and tight hammer-like breaking ball and the changeup really dives hard around 80 mph which he can throw to both righties and lefties. The curveball has good components and similarities to the slider just thrown at a bit lower velocity. He misses a tons of bats now and the ceiling is still really high as he’s far from it.
