Shawn Sullivan (2026, Barberton, Ohio) made it quite apparent why the University of Alabama jump out to get him early, landing the right-handed prospect midway through the spring. In his first summer outings, Sullivan has sat pretty comfortably in the upper-80s for the most part while pounding the zone at a rate that would be impressive at the college level. Over his seven innings on the week he walked just one hitter and struck out a grand total of 13 while topping out at 89 mph on more than a handful of occasions. As if the fastball wasn’t impressive enough, he has shown above-average feel for a firm breaking ball with late, hard downer action in the mid-70s. Just when hitters think they are ready to jump a fastball, cheating to get to it, Sullivan drops the hammer on them creating awkward takes and ugly swing with hitters falling in all directions. This was as strong of a first impression as Sullivan could have made this summer and will be a guy who is closely watched for the next few months as he continues on the summer circuit.
