Battle of the Southeast Scout Notes: Days 1-3

Mars Hill commit Grady Bivens (2022, Marietta, Ga.) looked very good throughout his four inning start. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander offered up a fastball that lived in the mid-80s throughout the start, grabbing 88 mph multiple times early in the game. The fastball had natural arm-side sink which led to tons of weak contact on the ground. The slider showed depth and was mixed in throughout the outing in deep counts. Bivens has an easy operation on the bump with a long arm-swing. The arm is quick with even more room to grow into the frame. Bivens just has a knack for missing barrels with both pitches. The Marietta native creates good momentum down the mound and tunnels both pitches extremely well. He finished up the outing with six strikeouts on a 54% strike rate.
