Field of 64 Projection

As a part of Perfect Game's concerted effort to continue to provide excellent coverage of college baseball, we have decided to take a swing at the Field of 64 this postseason.  The NCAA D-I Baseball Selection Committee will have one of the more challenging years in recent history and it will be interesting to see what variables they value most.  How much weight will the RPI be given?  Will Power 5 conference members with losing records be given the benefit of the doubt?  Does revenue potential for host sights come into play?  Does the regular season champion of a highly-regarded mid-major conference deserve to host over a Power 5 team with a better RPI who didn’t finish in the top-2 spots in their league?  And the factor that will have all bubble teams on edge, how many automatic bids will be stolen by teams that would not qualify for an at-large bid?  The one thing for certain is that we are in for an exciting week of tournament baseball as we watch teams secure their postseason spots in the Field of 64!

Here is how things break down for the number of bids from a conference standpoint:

ACC – 10
SEC – 9
Big 12 – 6
Pac 12 – 5
CUSA – 4
Sun Belt – 3
Big 10 – 2
MVC – 2

All other leagues are projected to secure one bid.
