Roman Bracamonte, RHP, Nogales (Ariz.)

Bracamonte has been a late draft riser this spring and it is easy to see why. The right-hander features a lanky, high-waisted frame with plenty of room to add more strength. Along with an intriguing build, there is a lot to like within the delivery. The right-hander hides the ball well throughout a short arm action with quick arm speed. Quality athleticism plays down the mound. The delivery should only get better as the mechanics continue to be refined. Bracamonte has shown the ability to throw three quality pitches that can miss bats. A big velocity jump this spring has taken the fastball to another level. The offering now sits 89-92 mph with enough life through the zone to miss bats often. Even more velocity should come down the line as the frame fills out further. The fastball pairs well with a devastating changeup that sits 78-82 mph. The ability to maintain arm speed and create solid fading movement make the pitch extremely tough to hit. The right-hander also showed the ability to spin a mid-70s curveball well. The offering ranges from 72-76 mph, but shows the most bite when thrown in the 74-76 mph range. Sharp, slurve action allows the offering to miss bats when thrown with conviction. The profile is extremely interesting. The feel for three pitches is there with each showing above-average ability and potential to get even better. Bracamonte only continues to climb up draft boards and will look to hear his name called come draft time with the only question being a matter of when.
