MARIETTA, Ga. – A five-run fourth inning for the East squad was the deciding factor in the inaugural Perfect Game 11u Select Festival, held at the TOP Chops East Cobb Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Carter Moon, who the day before was named the Perfect Game 11u Player of the Year, started the fourth inning with a hustle double that found grass in shallow left field. Four walks followed the Moon double, scoring the go-ahead run in the process to give East its first lead at 3-2.

Owen Hammond delivered the big blow of the inning, depositing a ball into the right-center gap with the bases loaded to score three, ending up with a double himself, and pushing the score to 6-2.

The West squad scored the first two runs of the game, jumping on the East squad right away in the bottom of the first game. Caleb Alexander walked to lead off the inning and later came around to score on a wild pitch, while Lennex Minor singled and scored in the same fashion.

It was Julian Martinez who got the East team on the board first in the third inning with the only home run of the game, a big fly to dead center field that proceeded the big five-run fourth inning.

There were a number of impressive pitching performances in the game. Moon, Brody Costantine, Konnor Briggs, and Derek Vazquez all threw scoreless innings for the East team, while Cole Albert, Parker Legh-Page, and Dru Wilson all did the same for the West team.

To go along with his Player of the Year award, Moon also received MVP honors for his work on the field on Sunday. Moon, a Bogart, Ga. native, went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles at the plate, and had the scoreless inning on the mound where he struck out two hitters.

Earlier in the day, Jael Santos won the home run derby at the event, connecting on an unbelievable 19 big flies during the contest.

While the 26 rostered players showcased their baseball abilities at the inaugural 11u Select Festival, they also raised a significant amount of money for the Perfect Game Cares Grow The Game Fund, as well as for Slater Elementary in Atlanta. In total, the two rosters raised $38,403.
