Lucas Lorenzo is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Tallahassee, FL who attends Lawton Chiles. Large, athletic frame with some strength at present, additional room to fill. Recorded a 6.97 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, worked out in the infield with fundamental actions, stays low and works through the ball, athleticism in the lower half, fields the ball out front, shows a quick arm and very good arm strength. Secondary right-handed pitcher, mature presence on the mound with smooth mechanics and an easy operation, high leg lift, whippy and full arm action through the back working up to a three-quarters arm slot. Generates late life to the fastball, clocked up to 88 mph and showed a good feel for a late breaking curveball with 11-to-5 shape, generates good swing-and-miss around the zone, projects well. Right-handed hitter, starts upright with a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Simple operation, works to the pull side with lift to the swing path and creates extension out front. Ball carries well when squared, turns the barrel over well with strength at contact. Good student. Named to 2019 Uncommitted Main Event Showcase Top Prospect List.
