Luke Gaida is a 2022 SS/2B with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Westhampton, MA who attends Hampshire Reg. Long and slender athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. 7.14 runner in the sixty. Has very athletic actions at shortstop defensively, takes very good routes to balls and is aggressive attacking grounders, quick hands fielding and a quick release on his throws, stays balanced well and can make difficult plays, lowers slot well when needed. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight crouched stance, loads to his back side and tends to stay there, needs to get his lower half moving into contact, hands driven rotational swing, bat speed will continue to improve as he adds strength. Also pitched, works from the stretch with an extended 3/4's arm slot, has a whippy and loose arm action. Fastball topped out at 80 mph with nice running action arm side and cut glove side. Also threw a knuckleball as a change up. Defense stands out, overall potential will be determined by how much he can improve offensively.
