2019 PG Florida Top Prospect Games at Miami
Alberto McCarthy is a 2020 LHP/ with a 6-5 220 lb. frame from Melbourne, FL who attends Satellite Senior HS. Large, physical build with significant projection remaining on the frame. Primary lefthanded pitcher who only pitched during the event. Turn step into a leg lift at the belt and hides the ball nicely with some deception. Longer path to release but whips the arm through nicely. Very tough to pick up out of the hand. Fastball topped out at 89 mph and sat in the upper-80s while maintaining velocity. Very good life and attacks with good angle to either side of the plate. Worked to the bottom of the zone and got a good amount of swing and miss. Slider is a legitimate out pitch and showed best when on top of it; very effective to hitters of both handedness. Showed a changeup that he currently has developing feel for. Verbal commitment to Stetson. Good student.
