Ryan MacNair is a 2009 C/P with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from Laguna Hills, CA, who attends Aliso Niguel HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. MacNair has a medium frame with some projectability. Defensively he has a quick release behind the plate that helped produce pop times under 2.00, with a best of 1.96 during the workout. His throws are also accurate and on the bag. He receives well with nice hands, and he has the ability to block balls in the dirt. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance. MacNair has a line drive swing plane, and shows bat speed. He showed the ability to hit to all fields. MacNair also has a good eye and doesn't swing at bad pitches. Once on the bases, he is aggressive looking to take the extra base, and he plays hard. On the mound has arm speed and his arm works from a 3/4 arm slot. He works his fastball in the low 80s, and he throws strikes. MacNair throws a loose CB at 60 mph, and he gets sink on his 71 mph change. He is a good student as well.
