Giancarlo Chianta is a 2019 2B/OF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Saint Louis, MO who attends Chaminade College Prep. Medium frame with a lean build. Primary second baseman, showed some range to each side with high energy actions while moving through the baseball. Developing fluidity while working through transition and created some on line carry across the infield at 71 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing quick, aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Gets baseball out quickly producing a clean arm action at release, topped at 76 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and simple front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed some strength when on time and working to the middle of the field. Good student as well.
