Gustavo Mendez is a 2022 C/1B with a 6-3 230 lb. frame from Windermere, FL who attends Windermere. Ran a 7.69 second 60 yard dash. A primary catcher with a large physical frame, starts with a square stance, comes up to a tall throwing position, showed some carry to second from a lower release point. Secondary first base man, showed arm strength throwing 84 mph to the bases, does a nice job staying over his feet with good footwork and gets the hips flipped quickly to the target. At the plate, his righthanded swing showed easy bat speed impacting the ball well, more power to come with better extension out front. Named to the 2020 Florida Prospect Showcase Top Prospects List.
