Mason Martinez is a 2019 RHP with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Amarillo, TX who attends Tascosa HS. Slender athletic build, has some lean strength, young look. High leg lift delivery, arm is loose and easy coming through, high 3/4's arm slot, gets directional to the plate very well. Fastball in the low 80's, topped out at 83 mph, good downhill angle and throws it for strikes. Outstanding change up, gets big sink and run with proper arm speed, lots of weak swing and misses on the change up. Tends to throw his curveball from a lower slot but gets big sweeping action on the pitch. Mixes it up and keeps hitters guessing. Fielded his position well. Right handed hitter, big back side load, swings hard with a good weight shift and showed surprising power to the middle of the field. Fluid actions in the middle of the field defensively. Interesting young pitcher who will throw harder as he physically matures. Good student.
