Marcus Cantu is a 2026 SS/MIF, OF with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Friendswood, TX who attends Lutheran South Academy. A compact frame with strength throughout a physical build. Athleticism shown throughout. Ran a 6.69 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who looked the part during his round of defensive work. He showed good range working laterally and had a softer glove. He had a good arm across, throwing 86 mph across the infield. He moved really well, low to the ground, and was clean with his fundamentals. Had a clue for the spot with a well-put-together round of defensive work. A left-handed hitter with a balanced base. He used a bigger leg lift trigger as he worked through the zone with a smooth left-handed stroke. Left the yard during BP with good feel to leverage and launch the ball to produce loud results. He had good bat speed working through the zone. Played pepper with the batter's eye during BP. Tools translated well in-game with 4 hits in-game, including a well-struck double and triple. Produced a 90 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Excellent student. Named to 2023 HS All-State Championships TP List. Texas Longhorns commit.
