Kyle Ponzo is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-5 195 lb. frame from Chandler, AZ who attends Hamilton. Large, tall frame with an athletic build. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step t o high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather with coil over back leg. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed some arm side life through the zone in the mid 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape and showed tight rotation with late depth when maintaining arm speed through extension. Also flashed deceptive hand speed with a changeup offering that hand some sink in the upper 70's. Consistently mixed pitches and locations while effectively missing barrel. Also worked out defensively from first base showing athletic actions while moving to and working through the baseball. Baseball came out of hand cleanly producing carry to the bag topping at 76 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance and high back elbow set. Creates some coil with top half at load and works to contact on a loose, extended path. Employed a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Ball jumped off the barrel well to the gaps and projects for additional raw power with further development of lower half. Excellent student. Named to the 2017 Fall Academic Showcase, Top Prospect List.
