2003 Northeast Underclass Showcase
Perlo is a very good catcher that was selected to the Top Prospect game. He showed that he can get it done defensively and has potential with the bat as well. He is mobile and athletic around the dish with a nice easy receiving posture and good quick release that produced pop times as fast as 2.00. His fundamentals are good and he showed that he understands how to do the little things to help the pitcher including those pitchers he never met before the weekend. He threw a runner out at 3B and popped a 2 flat between innings showing his hard playing style even outside of the live game action. He can hit with wood to all fields and all of his hits came off the bat hard. That kind of pop in his bat will fortify his value as a catcher and we think he has a lot of potential to make an impact at the next level.
