Joshua Bombach is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 5-11 191 lb. frame from El Paso, TX who attends Coronado High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Primary right handed pitcher, side step start, works from the middle of the rubber, lands online, pause at top of balance point, longer arm action, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Quick to plate and kept the ball down in the zone well. Attacked hitters inside and filled the zone generating weak contact. Fastball worked 75-76/77 mph with varying life, showing cut to glove side and arm side sink. Slider proved to be best pitch with short, cutting action at 72 mph. Also flashed a changeup with developing feel at 80 mph. At the plate, started with an even stance, medium hand set away from body, and a quick toe tap timing mechanism. Swing works primarily through upper half with an aggressive, pull oriented approach. Inside-out hand path with developing hand speed. Showed ability to get barrel to ball with mid-field contact. Will continue to improve with lower half incorporation. Excellent student.
