Billy Underwood is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from St. Louis, MO who attends IMG Academy. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 6.76 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, begins with a side step moving into a belt high leg lift; coil at top of balance point with some drop and drive to lower half mechanics. Low effort delivery with a full arm action in the back working to a low three-quarters release point. Does a nice job of staying on line towards the plate, best when working down to arm side, fastball topped out at 82 mph, showed sinking life when down from release point. Flashed curveball up to 72 mph with 2-8 shape and showed late bite through the zone. Fields the ball out front in the infield, short stride with lower half working towards target, clean transfer and ball comes out well with carry. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow and slightly open stance, lower hand set starts tight to body. Upper body dominant swing and utilizes a contact oriented approach, linear path through the zone and does a nice job of hitting the ball out front. line drive contact to pull side. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Coastal Carolina.
