Matt Ayala is a 2018 C/OF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Wantagh, NY who attends Wantagh Senior HS. Medium build with some present size and athleticism. Recorded a 4.10 30-yard dash. Primary catcher who showed solid actions and good receiving skills. Has clean footwork and has a good set behind the plate. Solid fundamentals and gains some ground with developing arm strength. Stands slightly open with a wide base at the plate. Has a pull approach with a high hand set and high back elbow. Created leverage at times and flashed feel for controlling the barrel of the bat. Consistent line drive contact and power should come as he continues to develop and grow physically. Great student.
