Gary Wilson is a 2008 SS/P with a 6'2'', 190 lb. frame from Marlton, NJ who attends Cherokee HS. He has a big, strong, thick chested build. Your first thought on seeing a middle infielder with his size is he won't stay there, but Wilson moved over to second base and looked like a natural there, with good game range, soft hands and a quick double play turn. He might be a Jeff Kent type second baseman with his actions and athletic ability. Offensively, Wilson hits out of a spread stance with a calm approach and plenty of strength in his swing. He works inside the ball well and has some gap power and lift in his swing. He times the ball well and trusts his approach. Wilson took a turn on the mound and threw 86-88 mph with raw pitching mechanics. Wilson doesn't have a plus projectable tool but he is very good in all areas and his offense and strength in the middle of the infield is a bonus.
