Jacob Barenkopf is a 2017 LHP/ with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Pomona, CA who attends Claremont. Large frame, sturdy mature build with broad shoulder. Solid balance in delivery, slight hip turn at apex of leg lift, solid direction and stays online throughout. Works to a 3/4's arm slot, shows ability to get on top of the ball and work downhill, short extension over frontside. Fastball up to 74 mph, can work to either side of the plate with offering, needs to be located down in the zone consistently. Shows some feel for low-60s curveball, offering has 1/7 break and long, loose shape. Also throws changeup, comes out of same plane and slot as the fastball, slows armspeed slightly but can locate the pitch well. Has some feel for pitching, knows how to sequence and keep hitters off balance. Good student.
