Diego Ramos is a 2018 SS/3B, 2B with a 6-3 183 lb. frame from Delray Beach, FL who attends Paola Prep Academy. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, shows clean and fluid actions up the middle, soft hands play well out front, nice range to either side, works behind the ball and shows a quick release, ball comes out clean and with present arm strength despite easy release, accurate across diamond. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery while getting tall on back side, stays short through the back while working to a three-quarters release point. Quick arm action, will occasionally get higher with release point, ball comes out from hand well, up to 83 mph with short running life while flashing 11-5 shape on curveball with short depth at 66 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide, spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. High knee raise trigger and loads hands back at start, shifts weight through lower half, does a nice job of creating bat speed and getting the barrel through the zone on time. Linear and full swing path, works the middle and pull side parts of the field with comfort, ball comes off the barrel well when squared. Tools projects nicely as he continues to fill out physically. Named to Fall National Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Indian River State College.
