Matt Mackin is a 2018 MIF/3B with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Westwood, MA who attends Westwood. Medium frame with solid, athletic present build and good room to fill out. Sets up to hit with upright stance, simple front side load, hitches hands up high and back in load, then takes small stride forward into contact with good hands to and through the zone. Shows the ability to control barrel and match the plane of the pitch, has some loft in swing, showed ability to barrel it up on both sides of the plate with projectable bat speed and strength. In the infield, stays down on the ball well, funnels it into hands and fields cleanly, transfers well with good crow hop mechanics and throws accurately across the diamond to 1st base, with throws topping at 68 MPH. Very good student.
