Rody Martinez is a 2020 C with a 5-10 192 lb. frame from Union, NJ who attends Union. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.32 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher set behind the plate in drills, receives the ball out front, gains ground with lower half, works into a shorter arm stroke and stays on top of throws well, present arm strength with carry down to second base, 1.94 best pop time. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Long swing path through the zone, incorporates physical strength well at point of contact. Some wrap at start of swing, does a nice job of hitting the ball out front, stays linear through the zone and shows comfort working to his pull side; ball comes off the barrel well when squared. Good student. Named to the Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List.
