Randy Abshier is a 2018 LHP with a 6-5 165 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Otay Ranch HS. Very slender build, type of frame that will never add too much bulk. Compact arm action in back, 3/4's arm slot, arm is clean and loose, some lean off on release. Fastball topped out at 89 mph, creates angle working down in the zone, can get to both sides of the plate, fastball mostly straight with occasional arm side run. Curveball is soft but has good 2/8 depth from the same slot, lands his curveball for strikes consistently and mixes pitches up and gets hitters off balance. Good pitchability. Verbal commitment to Arizona.
