2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Joe De Fina is a 2017 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from La Verne, CA who attends Damien HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulder and nice present strength throughout well proportioned frame. Ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, tight arm circle in the back with a high three-quarter release. Smooth and repeatable delivery, stays compact and shows a loose and easy arm action. Remains tall on backside and utilizes lower half well with good direction towards the plate. Creates nice downhill plane on fastball, topped out at 86 mph with heavy life while getting on hitters quickly. Fills up the strike zone and will challenge in on hitters. Curveball shows sharp depth with 11-5 shape, occasionally gets around causing sweeping life. Does a nice job of maintaining arm speed on changeup, late fading life to arm side at 78 mph with comfort to throw in any count. Moves well in the outfield, attacks ball with footwork and sound actions, comes through it and shows solid strength and carry from an high release point. Named to West Coast Top Prospect List.
