2015 Mid Atlantic Underclass Showcase
Jake Hughes is a 2017 SS/2B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Pittsburgh, PA who attends Fox Chapel Area High School. Lean build with room to fill out. Hits from an open stance with a narrow base. Starts with high hands and back elbow. short swing plane with mid field to pull contact. Some quickness in hands with good barrel control and feel. Would improve power potential by spreading out just a bit and incorporating lower 1/2 more into swing. Defensively, quick actions with good first step to ball, gets behind ball and works through it well, good arm action with a quick arm. Ball will carry when on top of throws. Actions overall are clean with sure hands.Plays with energy. Good Student.
