2014 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Brandon Barnes is a 2014 RHP/1B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Hobart, IN who attends Hobart HS. Slope shouldered athletic build with good present strength. Low leg raise and turn delivery, some drift and drive to the plate, uses lower half well to generate power but loses angle to the plate, 3/4's arm slot from a compact arm action, hides the ball well and has some deception in his delivery. Consistent mid-80's fastball, topped out at 87 mph, has some flat running action, has the ability to elevate his fastball above hitter's hands with intent. Sweeping breaking ball with 10/4 shape, flashes hard spin and bite, commands curveball well to the glove side and can spot the outside corner to right handed hitters. Worked quickly and aggressively and threw strikes. Right handed hitter, simple swing approach from a low hand start, quick short swing, sees and adjusts to off speed pitches, high average approach. Has the ability to be a solid pitcher at the next level. Named to the Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase Top Prospect Team.
