Craig Veech is a 2009 IF from Lake Brantley HS in Longwood , FL , with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame. He has a plus body for a freshman and shows good balance and overall athletic actions. Veech ran the 60 in 7.90 and threw 75 mph from the infield in drills. He shows good hands in the infield with a clean transfer and nice arm strength for his age. His size potential and lower body actions probably profile him to third base as he matures. Veech has good balance, load and rhythm at the plate from a tall stance. He shows strong hands and good bat speed for his age. He doesn't get his hands extended much during his swing but still can pull the ball with some authority with a good, level swing plane. Getting his strong hands loosened up and away from his body will work wonders for his swing. He may not have swung wood much at this point, also. Veech is a good looking young hitter with the tools and strength to keep improving. Nice young follow to watch for a few years. Veech is also an excellent student.
