Ryan Casey is a 2017 OF/ with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Sparta, NJ who attends Pope John XXIII. Medium frame with broad shoulder and an athletic build. Right handed hitter with a wide, slightly crouched stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact with a high leg lift trigger. Swings with intent while creating good bat speed through the zone. Mid-field approach with a line drive swing plane. Baseball comes off barrel with some pop when squared to the gaps. Barrel head comes through the zone well when extending to the pull side gap. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing a full three-quarters arm action with a slightly uphill plane at release. Throws produce some on line carry to the bag with accuracy, topped at 80 mph. Shows athletic actions while closing to baseball with solid momentum into throws. Clean glove actions throughout transition with smooth glove to hand exchanges. Good student as well.
