Daniel Bakst is a 2016 SS with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from New York, NY who attends Poly Prep Country Day. Tall and strong athletic build, very good present strength with more to come. Right handed hitter,straight stance, pronounced move into contact with very good lower half use to help create bat speed, will get out front early at times and reach, loose fast swing with good extension out front, looks to pull the ball and can create back spin and carry, no problem handling velocity. Smooth actions at shortstop, feet work well, big arm strength, trusts his arm and will wait an extra count to make sure feet are positioned, agile and can move around the ball and charge it, might outgrow shortstop but would be an excellent defensive third baseman in that event. Good student, verbal commitment to Stanford.
