Nathan Long: Long is a 6-2 right hander from Fort Worth who cruised through four innings of work, allowing only one base runner to reach and that was on an infield error. He throws his fastball in the 82-85 mph range and gets occasional cutting action with it. Long throws a lot of curveballs although this looked to be his fourth best pitch. It’s soft at 65-66 mph but Long throws it for strikes at any time in the count and keeps the hitters off balance. His 72 mph slurve was a much sharper breaking ball, but Long’s best secondary offering was a low 70’s change up that was well above average at times. He gets good sinking life to it and very good deception. This young prospect gets hitters out quickly and has good stuff as well.
