2003 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
West is a physically mature pitcher with three decent pitches and the chance to get better with some mechanical adjustments. He throws a running, sinking fastball in the 80-83 mph range and compliments that well with a 76 mph slider that gets some good downer break to it. West also throws a workable change up. Where West can get better is incorporating more of his lower body in his delivery. He throws almost entirely with his upper half and is still able to generate good stuff. Coaches shouldn’t forget about West’s bat, either. He has some pull power and lift in his swing. Kelly is a good student.
