Jonathan Del Valle is a 2009 OF/2B with a 5'9'', 155 lb. frame from Lake Worth, FL who attends American Heritage HS. He has an athletic build with some wirey present strength. He is an excellent runner at 6.67 in the 60 and plays a speed game. Del Valle has some arm strength from the outfield and should have very good range as well. He's also played some second base in the past and that could be an interesting alternative. At the plate, Del Valle hits out of a spread stance with a big bat wrap to start his swing. That often leaves his bat head late coming through and leads to opposite field contact. When Del Valle gets the bat head into the zone early, he shows good bat speed and some pop for his size. He's an aggressive hitter who should keep improving as he gets a better feel for his swing against good pitching. Del Valle is also an excellent student.
