2005 Sunshine West Showcase
Eric Canedo is a 2006 catcher/third baseman from Diamond Bar HS in Walnut, California, with a 5'8", 155 lb. frame. Canedo has solid arm strength behind the plate and we think he threw better in the showcase games than he did during the workout. During the workout he was gunned at 73 mph, but we think he threw harder when it counted. Canedo also popped a solid 2.04 during one of the showcase games. His throws are accurate, and he showed soft hands receiving behind the plate. Offensively he hits from a straight away stance with no stride and a high hand set. Canedo is balanced throughout his swing and has a line drive swing path with good bat speed. Defense is his current strong point, but we see his overall game continuing to improve as he matures physically.
