Patrick Roche is a 2020 SS/2B, 3B, MIF with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Marshfield, MA who attends Boston College High School. Large, athletic frame with broadness to shoulders and present physical strength proportioned nicely throughout frame. Primary shortstop, controls body well throughout actions, fields out front and shows a short and quick funnel, stays tight and compact with actions and works on top of the ball showing strength and carry across, maintains balance and can drop slot with accuracy. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; hands start pulled back and tighter to body, utilizes a simple trigger. Full swing path through the zone and looks to lift at the point of contact, occasionally gets to front side early with shift. Comfort working to pull side and shows strength to hands with extension out front and carry when squared; projects with additional weight shift through lower half. Excellent student. Named to the Top Prospect List. Verbal commitment to Boston College.
