Ricky Tyler Thomas is a 2014 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Mira Mesa. Tall lanky frame, long lean build, very projectable. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot, loose easy arm action, projectable arm strenth, quick arm stroke with a shorter arm action. Online delivery, sound mechanics, tailing action on fastball to the arm side, stays tall in back. Mixes pitches well, shows an understanding of how to setup and finish off hitters with good developing pitchability. Good feel for curveball with 1-7 shape and good depth, changeup shows potential once he learns to execute it with the same arm speed and slot as his fastball. Good upside on the mound, but also showed well as an OF prospect. Impressive outfield workout, solid all around athlete. Loose swing with projecatable bat speed, couple of nice live ABs in the games as well, sees the ball well and tacks it, uses the whole field. Future is likely as a LHP, but has good all around ability. Good student.
